Reasons to Downsize Your Desktops

Living in such a digital age has its perks. Could you imagine what it must have been like before the days of cell phones, computers and credit cards? I certainly can’t and I definitely wouldn’t want to. I enjoy all of my tech toys. And I am sure you do as well. We don’t drag our knuckles or live in caves anymore.

Let’s face it, we live in an all too digital age and throwing our computers out the window wouldn’t make much sense. However, being unhappy with them doesn’t really cut the cake either. Maybe the time has come for you to ask yourself if downsizing your clunky home computer to a sleeker laptop is for you.

When trying to decide whether downsizing is right for you, it is always best to weigh out all of the possible pros and cons. Let us begin with the cons. If graphics and gaming are high on your list of requirements for your personal computer, more than likely you will not be pleased with a laptop. For the most part, only about half of the laptops on the market will have sufficient graphics processors for you gamers out there.

Now though, laptops are becoming more affordable and coming with much better options. Without naming any major brand, there are some out there that are selling for under 500 dollars. And you can find them at numerous big name retail locations. If that still seems too steep, there are also refurbished ones that are offered by many companies.

Now moving on to the pros. For starters let’s discuss the most obvious… mobility. Laptops are portable. If you are one of the many people who take advantage of the growing “work at home” trend, than mobility can be a huge plus. It allows you freedom to work from anywhere at anytime.

Desktops do afford such a luxury. Instead you are tied down to your home office. Another major advantage of the laptop is storage. With desktop computers, this doesn’t exist. There is no storing your computer out of sight, it’s just there. Laptops allow you to tuck them away when not in use.

So you have made the ultimate decision… you are going to go ahead and downsize that old beastly desktop that takes up your entire home office and purchase a new smaller, more versatile laptop. What do you do now? That is a simple answer. You are going to do your research.

But with a laptop, if you decide you want to do your report at the nearest cafe… all you have to do is slip it into your bag and off you go. Plus, it’s wonderful for taking on long car trips to keep the kids occupied with a movie or game.
