It is hard to imagine a world without computers. Computers have come a long way from the two to four-story gadgets that used to occupy the science labs of huge research facilities and military complexes to the personal computers that adorn most offices and now over a third of all homes in the US. When the large computers were replaced by personal computers or PCs, the way the world worked changed has forever. This is because computers added precision and expertise on whatever someone did. This totally revolutionized the way products and services are rendered across the globe not to mention the speed. But the advent of personal computers was not the end of the revolution. Then came the laptops which were miniature versions of the PC created to enable mobile computing.
Laptops were first created by a company called Toshiba in conjunction with others such as Sony. They shrunk the PC parts that came with regular computers and compressed them into a portable mini-computer. These were also a bit bulky at first but now laptops are ultra-thin and ultra-light while at the same time packing considerably more power than their bulky counterparts. Laptops are becoming as frequent as cell phones and there are so many specialized names in the market today. Trying to pick the most feasible laptop actually depends upon personal preference and usage. If we look at the laptops on the market each extols their attributes.
However the mainstream has the same attributes in average. Processors, chipsets, size of hard disk drives, DVD players, wireless interface are found on all the laptops. Of course all the other standard features are also there. Like network ports, USB ports, serial port, etc.
Right now it’s the Intel Duo core processors that have taken the marketplace by storm. But there are manifold attributes that a user wants from their laptop. Some desire to use their laptop for gaming so want high speed processors. Others want to listen to music while they are working and crave for high quality speakers. Still others want high quality graphics. Students want laptops that are lightweight as they have to be carried all over the campus. Old people also want lightweight computers. A few people want widescreen laptops.
The individual requirements for laptops are so diverse that one single laptop cannot fulfill all the needs. Laptop…
