These days more and more people read ebooks. They no longer read just the traditional books.
While most people still read traditional books instead of ebooks, if the trend continues there is a good chance that several years from now there will be just as many people reading ebooks as those reading traditional books.
Who knows, perhaps eventually traditional books will disappear. But why is that the case? Why do ebooks become more and more popular?
I can think of at least two reasons for the increasing popularity of ebooks over traditional books.
First, you can easily carry a lot of ebooks wherever you go.
Doing that with traditional ebooks requires you to carry a large bag that’s heavy. With ebooks, on the other hand, you can just store them in a mobile device like a PDA or a cell phone.
You can carry a lot of ebooks as easy as carrying just a few. You can easily have a library of your books no matter where you go.
A second reason is the the ability search within ebooks.
With traditional books, the index is the only tool you can use to find a topic you are interested in. But the index sometimes can’t give you what you need and you must then search the text manually.
The problem doesn’t occur on ebooks because there you have a feature to search the text. The feature can help you find exactly what you want in a small amount of time. This is a big benefit for many people including me.
The trend these days suggests that the benefits of ebooks will become even more important for many people in the future. It will make ebooks the preferred form of books over traditional books for mobile and information-oriented people.
